La famille Mr Gay Europe s'aggrandit et c'est un nouveau pays qui rejoint le concours pour la première fois : la Finlande ! 

Bienvenue à Janne Tiilkainen Mr Gay Finlande 2012, qui aura la lourde responsabilité de représenter ton pays à Rome pour le concours Mr Gay Europe 2012 ! Son interview exclusive pour Benjamin, Gay et Européen.

Benjamin - Peux-tu te présenter en quelques mots ?

Janne Tiilikainen - Je suis un mec normal de 26 ans, Mr Gay Finlande 2012. J'ai fait des études de gestion d'entreprise à l'Université des sciences appliqués et j'aurais mon diplôme été 2013. J'aurais une licence.

En plus de mes études, je travaille à mi-temps dans un club de gym. Dans mon temps libre, je fais du sport, je vois mes amis et je passe du temps avec mon chien. Quelques mots pour me décrire : sympa, ouvert et souriant.

Benjamin - Comment as-tu fait ton coming-out ? Comment ont réagit tes proches ?

Janne Tiilikainen - J'ai fait mon coming-out pas à pas. J'ai d'abord parlé à mon cousin le plus proche, puis à ma petite soeur, à mes amis, et ainsi de suite. J'avais décidé d'en parler à mes parents avant mes 21 ans, ce que j'ai fait en demandant à ma mère si je pouvais inviter mon copain à la maison. Elle m'a dit "J'ai attendu ces mots pendant tant d'années" et elle nous a accueillit tous les deux. Ce fut un peu plus difficile pour mon père au début, mais maintenant tout va bien. Tous mes proches l'ont bien pris et je n'ai jamais entendu de remarques négatives. La plupart se doutait que j'étais gay.

Benjamin - Quels sont tes motivations et projets en tant que Mr Gay Europe ?

Janne Tiilikainen - Mes motivations et projets pour Mr Gay Europe sont de devenir un ambassadeur de bonne volonté pour la communauté gay européenne et être le "visage gay" qui montre aux gens que les gays sont des êtres humains comme tout le monde avec des sentiments et des rèves. Je veux être un modéle pour encourager tous ceux qui n'osent pas vivre ouvertement leur sexualité ou faire leur coming-out. Et je suis résolument contre toute forme de discrimination.

Benjamin - Comment décrirais tu la situation pour les gays en Finlande ? Que faut-il améliorer ?

Janne Tiilikainen - La situation en Finlande est de mieux en mieux avec le temps, mais il reste beaucoup à faire. La Finlande est très gay-friendly et les choses vont bien. Un bon exemple: lors des dernières éléctions présidentielles en début d'année, l'un des deux candidats au second tour était ouvertement gay. Il s'agit de Pekka Haavisto et il a reçu de nombreux votes, même s'il a terminé deuxième. Je pense que cela montre que la Finlande est en train de devenir de plus en plus un pays où être gay n'est pas un débat. Pourtant, il reste des choses à améliorer et la Finlande est le seul pays nordique où il n'y a pas de mariage pour tous. Cela devrait changer bientôt, nous travaillons pour que cela arrive le plus vite possible.

Benjamin - Que signifie l'Europe pour toi ?

Janne Tiilikainen - L'Europe est pour moi une famille. Tous les pays d'Europe sont des endroits que je voudrais visiter et je pense que nous les Européens avons beaucoup en commun. Nous sommes chaleureux, polis et souriant ;-)

Benjamin - Un dernier mot pour les lecteurs de mon blog ?

Janne Tiilikainen - Bien sûr, mon dicton : nous n'avons qu'une seule vie et nous devons la vivre comme nous le souhaitons en étant honnête avec nous même. Il n'y a pas de deuxième chance. Nous avons tous le droit de vivre et d'être heureux et acceptés.

The Mr Gay Family is getting bigger and a new country is making its first entry: Finland! 

Welcome to à Janne Tiilkainen, Mr Gay Finland 2012, who will have the big responsibility to represent his country in Rome for the Mr Gay Europe 2012 contest! Here is his exclusive interview for Benjamin, Gay et Européen.

Benjamin - Can you present yourself in a few words?

Janne Tiilikainen - I am a 26 years old boy next door and Mr Gay Finland 2012. I study business administration in a University of Applied Sciences and I will graduate in summer 2013. I will become a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). In addition to my studies I work part-time at a gym. When I have free time I do sports, see my friends and spend time with my dog. Few words that would describe me are sympathetic, easily approachable and happy.

Benjamin - How did you come out? How did your relatives react?

Janne Tiilikainen - I came out step by step. First I told to my close cousin, then to my little sister, to close friends, and so on. I had decided to come out to my parents before I turn to 21 years and I certainly did. I asked my mom if I could bring my boyfriend for a visit back then. She said "I've been waiting this message for so many years" and welcomed us both to come. For my dad it was little bit more difficult at first but now he's OK too. All my relatives took it in a good way and I have not heard any negative feedback so far. Most of them have said that they had always assumed me to be gay.

Benjamin - What are your motivations and projects for Mr Gay Europe? What do you stand for?

Janne Tiilikainen - My motivations and projects for Mr Gay Europe are to work as an ambassador of goodwill for the European gay community and to be kind of a public "gay face" that shows to people that we gays are normal human beings with feelings and dreams. I would like to be a good role model and to encourage those people, who do not yet dare to live openly as gay people, to come out of their closets. Also I absolutely stand for decreasing discrimination.

Benjamin - How would you describe the situation for gays in Finland? What should be improved?

Janne Tiilikainen - Situation in Finland is getting better and better all the time, but there is still work to do. Finland is a gay friendly country and things here are pretty well. A positive example on that: we had a presidential election earlier this year and one of the two candidates in the final round was openly gay. He is Pekka Haavisto and he got lots of positive feedback, but unfortunately he became number two in the election. I think this shows that Finland is becoming more and more a country, where being gay is a non-issue. However, one thing that needs improvement is that Finland is the only one of the Nordic countries, which has not yet approved a gender-neutral marriage act. This should be changed and we are working on it to be changed as soon as possible.

Benjamin - What means Europe for you?

Janne Tiilikainen - Europe means a family to me. All European countries are places where I would like to visit and I think we Europeans have many things in common. We are warm-hearted, polite and smiling people ;-)

Benjamin - One last word for my blog readers?

Janne Tiilikainen - Definitely, my motto: everyone of us has only this one life to live, and we must live it exactly how we want to being true to ourselves – we won’t get it back later. We all have the right to live our lives happily and accepted.

Mr Gay Perhe jatkaa kasvamistaan ja uusi maa liittyy ensikertalaisena joukkoon: Suomi!

Tervetuloa Janne Tiilikaiselle, vuoden 2012 Mr Gay Finlandille, jolla tulee olemaan suuri vastuu edustaessaan omaa maataan Mr Gay Europe kilpailussa Roomassa! Tässä hänen haastattelunsa yksinoikeudella Benjamin, Gay et Européen.

Benjamin - Voitko esitellä itseäsi muutamalla sanalla?

Janne Tiilikainen - Olen 26-vuotias tavallinen naapurinpoika ja vuoden 2012 Mr Gay Finland. Opiskelen liiketaloutta ammattikorkeakoulussa ja valmistun kesällä 2013 tradenomiksi. Koulun ohella työskentelen kuntosalilla osa-aikaisena työntekijänä. Vapaa-ajallani urheilen, näen ystäviäni ja vietän aikaa koirani kanssa. Muutamat sanat, jotka kuvaavat minua ovat sympaattinen, helposti lähestyttävä ja iloinen.

Benjamin - Kuinka tulit ulos kaapista? Kuinka sukulaisesi reagoivat?

Janne Tiilikainen - Tulin ulos vähitellen. Ensin kerroin asiasta rakkaalle serkulleni, sitten pikkusiskolleni, läheisille ystävilleni ja sitä rataa. Olin päättänyt tulla kaapista ulos vanhemmilleni ennen kuin täytän 21 vuotta ja niin tein. Kysyin äidiltäni saanko tuoda silloisen poikaystävän vierailulle. Hän sanoi ”olen odottanut tätä viestiä niin monta vuotta” ja toivotti meidät molemmat tervetulleiksi. Isälleni asia oli aluksi hieman vaikea, mutta nykyisin hänkin on ok. Kaikki sukulaiseni näyttivät ottavan asian hyvin, enkä ole vieläkään kuullut mitään negatiivista palautetta keneltäkään. Suurin osa heistä on sanonut aina otaksuneensa minun olevan homo.

Benjamin - Mitkä ovat motivaatiosi ja projektisi Mr Gay Europea ajatellen? Mitä edustat?

Janne Tiilikainen - Motivaationi ja projektini Mr Gay Europea ajatellen ovat toimia hyväntahdon lähettiläänä Euroopan homoyhteisölle ja toimia ikään kuin julkisina ”homokasvoina” jotka osoittavat meidän homojen olevan tavallisia ihmisiä tunteineen ja haaveineen. Haluaisin olla hyvä roolimalli ja rohkaista niitä henkilöitä, jotka eivät vielä uskalla elää avoimesti homoina, tulemaan ulos kaapista. Syrjinnän vähentäminen on myös ehdottomasti työlistallani.

Benjamin - Kuinka kuvailisit homojen tilannetta Suomessa? Mitä tulisi parantaa?

Janne Tiilikainen - Tilanne Suomessa on muuttumassa parempaan koko ajan, mutta silti on työtä tehtävänä. Mielestäni Suomi on homoystävällinen maa ja asiat ovat suhteellisen hyvin.. Positiivisia asioita on esimerkiksi se, että meillä oli presidentinvaalit aiemmin tänä vuonna ja yksi ehdokkaista oli avoimesti homo. Pekka Haavisto sai paljon positiivista palautetta tullen jopa toiseksi vaalissa. Mielestäni tämä osoittaa, että Suomi kehittyy koko ajan suvaitsevampaan suuntaan. Parannettavaakin riittää: tällä hetkellä Suomi on ainoa Pohjoismaa, joka ei ole vielä hyväksynyt sukupuolineutraalia avioliittolakia. Tämä tulisi saada muutetuksi ja teemme työtä aktiivisesti sen muuttamiseksi niin nopeasti kuin mahdollista.

Benjamin - Mitä Eurooppa merkitsee sinulle?

Janne Tiilikainen - Eurooppa merkitsee minulle perhettä. Haluaisin vierailla kaikissa Euroopan maissa ja mielestäni meillä eurooppalaisilla on paljon yhteistä. Olemme lämminsydämisiä, kohteliaita ja hymyileviä ihmisiä ;-)

Benjamin - Mitä haluaisit vielä lopuksi sanoa blogini lukijoille?

Janne Tiilikainen - Haluaisin sanoa mottoni: meillä kaikilla on vain tämä yksi elämä elettävänä ja meidän täytyy elää se juuri kuten me haluamme ollen rehellisiä itsellemme – emme saa sitä takaisin myöhemmin. Meillä kaikilla on oikeus elää elämämme onnellisena ja hyväksyttynä.
