Soutenez la candidature de Paris pour accueillir les Gay Games 2018

Je dois bien l'avouer, s'il y a un secteur de la communauté LGBT que je ne connaissais pas, c'est bien le sport. J'étais même plutôt réticent et me demandait pourquoi les sportifs LGBTs n'allaient pas tout simplement faire du sport dans les clubs traditionnels.

Mais ça, c'était avant. Je me suis laissé tenter par les World Outgames d'Anvers, ma première participation à une compétition sportive LGBT d'envergure. J'ai participé à un tournoi de volley inoubliable durant lequel j'ai eu le bonheur de jouer contre des équipes allemandes, canadiennes, danoises, hollandaises, belges, australiennes et même russes ! C'était juste magique !

Et tout au long de ce tournoi, il y a eu de nombreux échanges avec les autres sportifs. Et j'ai réalisé à quel point l'homophobie dans le sport était encore présente, même en France, et que tant que cette homophobie existera, les clubs de sport LGBT seront nécessaires pour permettre aux sportifs LGBTs de s'épanouir dans leur discipline et surtout de donner de la visibilité à ce fléau qu'est l'homophobie dans le sport.

Malheureusement, ce ne sont pas les dernières nouvelles venant de la Russie qui pourront nous rassurer. Trop peu d'athlètes ont protesté contre la loi anti gay au mondial d'athlétisme de Moscou et le débat fait rage pour les jeux olympiques de Sotchi en 2014. Plus que jamais, il faut lutter contre l'homophobie dans le sport.

C'est pour toutes ces raisons que je soutiens la candidature de Paris pour organiser les Gay Games 2018 et que je vous invite à les soutenir également !

Les Gay Games sont la plus importante compétition sportive LGBT au monde et jamais la France n'a organisé un événement de ce type. Pourtant, Paris n'a plus à prouver son savoir-faire et le tournoi international de Paris attire chaque année plus de 2 000 participants, un des plus grands tournois en Europe. Et la France a été l'une des plus importantes délégations aux Outgames d'Anvers, ce qui montre le travail important réalisé par la FSGL. J'ai eu l'occasion de discuter avec l'un des responsables de la FSGL et j'ai été marqué par son implication pour la réussite de la délégation.

Ce serait un honneur pour la France d'accueillir le monde et d'offrir des Gay Games de qualité. Soutenez la candidature de Paris pour accueillir les Gay Games 2018 !

Parce que l'homophobie n'a pas sa place dans le sport, ni ailleurs.

I must admit, if there is one sector of the LGBT community that I did not know, this is sport. I was even reluctant and asked myself why LGBT would not simply practice in traditional clubs.

But that was before. I have been tempted by the World Outgames in Antwerp, my first participation in a big LGBT sporting event. I played in the unforgettable volleyball tournament during which I had the pleasure of playing against Canadian, German, Danish, Dutch, Belgian, Australian and even Russian teams! It was just magical!

And throughout this tournament, there were many exchanges with other athletes. And I realized how much homophobia in sport was still strong, even in France, and as long as this homophobia exists, LGBT sports clubs will be required to allow LGBTs sports to enjoy their discipline and especially to give visibility to the issue of homophobia in sport.

Unfortunately, the latest news from Russia will confort us. Too few athletes have protested against the anti-gay law at the World Athletics in Moscow and the debate is strong about the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. More than ever, we must fight against homophobia in sport.

For all these reasons, I support the Paris bid to host the Gay Games in 2018 and I invite you to also support them!

The Gay Games are the largest sporting event in the world and France has never hosted an event of this type. Yet, Paris does not have to prove its expertise and the international tournament of Paris each year attracts more than 2000 participants, one of the biggest tournament in Europe. And France was one of the largest delegations at the World Outgames in Antwerp, which shows the important work done by the FSGL. I had the opportunity to talk with one of the FSGL leaders and I was impressed by his commitment to the success of the delegation.

It would be an honor for France to host the world and offer quality Gay Games. Support the Paris bid to host the 2018 Gay Games!
