World Outgames Antwerp 2013 - Objectifs atteints ?

Voila, c'est fini. Miami Beach a reçu le temoin d'Anvers pour organiser les prochains World Outgames en 2017, cloturant ainsi les jeux d'Anvers. Pendant 10 jours, plus de 5 000 athlétes se sont affrontés dans plus de 32 sports. Conférence sur les droits de l'homme, Mr Gay Monde, Antwerp Pride se présente comme la capitale mondiale LGBT 2013 !

A l'heure du bilan, les objectifs ont-ils été atteints ?

La réponse est oui et non. Tout dépend si vous préférez voir le verre à moitié vide ou moitié plein. Car si le bilan est incontestablement positif, il a manqué un tout petit rien pour marquer les esprits.

Tout d'abord, un succès d'organisation. Plus de 800 bénévoles pour assurer le bon déroulement de l'événement et difficile de dire lequel a été le plus attentionné, le plus gentil ou le plus disponible. Ils ont été présents et disponibles pour les participants. Un grand merci à eux !

Succès également pour le sport. 5 000 sportifs et 32 disciplines. Un bon niveau global et une compétition passionnée, de nombreux pays représentées, les sportifs n'ont pas été déçu du séjour.

La conférence sur les droits de l'homme a également atteint ses objectifs en adoptant la déclaration d'Anvers (Antwerp Guidelines). Des intervenants de qualité venant du monde entier et un contenu pertinent.

Résultat plus mitigé en revanche sur la participation générale. 5 000 athlétes c'est bien, mais c'est moins que les 10 000 attendus. A part la pool party qui a fait le plein, les autres soirées ont attiré beaucoup de public, mais n'étaient pas complétes. Idem pour les cérémonies d'ouverture et de cloture où il y avait du monde mais où il y avait encore bien de la place. La soirée eurovision a été annulée faute de participant et même la soirée Mr Gay Monde n'était remplie qu'à moitié.

En revanche, échec pour le rainbow village qui est resté vide la majeur partie du temps.

Objectifs presque atteints pour les World Outgames d'Anvers. Succès d'organisation, succès sportif et succès d'ambiance, mais une participation légérement en dessous des objectifs. Bravo aux organisateurs et aux bénévoles pour leur engagement et leur travail !

Voila, it's over. Miami Beach has received the responsibility from Antwerp to organize the next World Outgames in 2017, thus ending the game in Antwerp. For 10 days, more than 5,000 athletes competed in 32 sports in Antwerp. Conference on Human Rights, Mr Gay World, Pride, Antwerp presented itself as the world LGBT capital 2013!

After the event, did Antwerp reached its objectives?

The answer is yes and no. It depends on whether you prefer to see the glass half empty or half full. Because if the balance is clearly positive, a tiny little nothing missed to the event.

First, the organization has been very successful. More than 800 volunteers were there to ensure the smooth running of the event and difficult to say who has been the most caring, the nicest or the most helpful. They were present and available for participants. A big thanks to them!

Success for the sport competiton. 5.000 sports and 32 disciplines. Overall a good and passionate competition, many countries represented, the athletes were not disappointed with the stay.

The conference on Human Rights has also reached its objectives by adopting the Antwerp Guidelines. Important speakers from around the world and a content of quality made it a big success.

However, the general participation has been more balanced. 5.000 athletes is good, but it is less than the 10,000 expected. Apart from the pool party which was full, the other parties have attracted a lot of public, but were not full. Ditto for the opening and closing ceremonies where there were people, but less than expected. The Eurovision party has been canceled and even the Mr Gay World event was only half full.

However, that was a failure for the rainbow village which remained empty the major part of the time.

The goals are almost reached for World Outgames Antwerp. Success for the organization, the sport and the atmosphere, but participation slightly below target. Congratulations to the organizers and volunteers for their dedication and hard work!
