A big success! The march in favor of marriage and for all that took place on the 16th December reached by far the objectives and with more than 150 000 participants in Paris and 200 000 in France, the message is clear! The LGBT movement is ready for action and will not give up till we reach equality of rights!

During the preparation of the 16th December march, several voices asked for a march that will not be "gay pride like". The message of the 16th December is strongly polical, to send a message to the government, but also to show opposition to the anti-marriage for all activists.

And that was visible during the march. Very view costumes, people dressed like every day, but holding placard with a strong political or original content.

Is the French LGBT movement reconcilled with politics?

It is true that gay pride taking place in summer are gathering a lot of people and always have a political message, but that aspect tends to be at the background in opposition to the party and commercial side of the event.

This is the major critic against gay pride. By giving visibility, aren't they reinforcing clichés and stereotypes against homosexuals? Besides, each club or bar wants to promote itself, so the commercial aspect tends to outshine the polical aspect. An impression forwarded by the media which do not hesitate to show in party aspect, which is more visually sellable.

These critics did strike back the LGBT movement as anti-marriage for all are using them, as we can see on the Civitas flyers.

The contrast is then even stronger with the march of the 16th December, which sent a powerful political message held by the associations, politics, officials, unions and citizens.

The struggle is not over and next march will be on the 27th of Jannuary in Paris. We should be even more numerous for equality of rights in France!
